Specialty Qualifications:

Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation of preschool, school-aged children and adolescents with complex medical, developmental, learning and behavioral needs;

Process-oriented approach with additional predicates of (i) developmental cognitive psychology, (ii) cognitive/behavioral therapeutic orientations and (ii) response-to-intervention emphasis on outcome

Interests

  • Neuropsychological consequences of attention deficit hyperactivity and/or executive disorders on instructional performance, coping skills and social/emotional adjustment;
  • Recovery curves associated with traumatic brain injury in children & adolescents;
  • Comprehensive assessment and multidisciplinary intervention planning with Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities (NVLD);
  • Developmental course & “response to intervention” with specific learning disabilities, multiple handicapping conditions and other health impairments;
  • Developmental course with chronic illness (sickle cell disease), medically successful treatment of systemic cancer (acute leukocytic leukemia) and brain tumor resections;
  • Relationship of compensatory effort, neuropsychological efficiency and resilience of cognitive fatigue.
  • Relationship between Piagetian developmental stages, curricular standards & instructional performance and cognitive/behavioral interventions
