Biography:
Dr. John Stephenson earned his BA in Political Science at Stanford University in 1987. He then worked in management consulting in Washington DC before moving to Barcelona, Spain to teach English and study at the University of Barcelona. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Stephenson earned his MA and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP)/Alameda (now Alliant University) in 1997. Dr. Stephenson received post-doctoral training in pediatric neuropsychology at Children's Hospital Oakland. Dr. Stephenson became board certified with ABPdN in 2009.

Dr. Stephenson has a private practice specializing in the assessment of children. Also, he provides assessments for several agencies, including the Regional Centers and Counseling4Kids, serving foster children. Common referral sources are pediatricians, psychiatrists, neurologists, therapists, and local school districts. Dr. Stephenson also conducts disability determination assessments and Workers' Compensation evaluations.

Examples of referral issues include learning disorders, ADHD, seizure disorders, autism spectrum disorders, brain injuries, and psychiatric issues.

Dr. Stephenson has lectured to the National Association of Disability Examiners (NADE) and to local schools on the topics of disabilities in children and ADHD.

Dr. Stephenson is a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) and the American Psychological Association (APA).
