Biography:

  • Dr. Mittelstadt, a pediatric neuropsychologist, completed her doctorate at California School of Professional Psychology in Alameda in 1990.
  • Completed special education degrees: Bachelor's in Emotional Impairment (1980) at Eastern Michigan University; Master's in Learning Disabilities/Communication Disorders (1984) at Johns Hopkins University.
  • Board certified with ABPdN in 1999.
  • Licensed psychologist in California since 1992.
  • Completed post-doctoral training at Children's Hospital-Oakland, California.
  • Completed internships in California at Children's Hospital-Oakland, at San Mateo County Mental Health, and at Transitions (Post-acute rehab center) in Berkeley.
  • Taught in special education in Maryland and Michigan for five years.
  • Currently a pediatric neuropsychology consultant to Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.
  • Private practice in which Dr. Mittelstadt assesses infants through young adults with particular interests in high functioning autism, Asperger's Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Attentional Disorders, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Neurogenetic Disorders, and the neuropsychological effects of seizures, prematurity, cancer and immune disorders.
  • Regularly consults with parents, school staff, physicians, and therapists re. test results and ongoing needs.
  • Current secretary of ABPdN.
  • Has given invited lectures to parent groups, at conferences, and in graduate classes related to pediatric neuropsychology.
  • Current member of National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, American Psychological Association and the California Psychological Association.
